Timberline names new softball coach

David Goodwin has been hired to replace Annie Schmidt as Timberline High softball coach, according to athletic director Tol Gropp.

Goodwin, an assistant of Schmidt’s for the past five seasons, also is the offensive coordinator for the football team and coached sophomore girls basketball the past two seasons. He teaches science at Timberline.

Schmidt, who resigned after the Wolves won the 5A state championship in May, was the only coach in the school’s 11-year history. She guided the program to state titles in 2005 and 2009, and district championships in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2009.
