Legislature’s cost: ‘A schoolteacher a day’

During the Democrats’ open caucus Tuesday morning, Sen. Diane Bilyeu of Pocatello tried to sum up the cost of the legislative session.

“A schoolteacher a day,” she said, equating the $30,000-per-day cost of running the Legislature to a salary of a teacher.

Today is the 114th day of the Legislative session, which has cost the state $3.43 million so far. It is the second longest session in state history.

2009=First Education budget cuts in Idaho

It sure is interesting that the first education budget to be cut in Idaho happens in the same year when the governor has already been given a raise in the roads budget and he wants more. How does he sleep at night? I mean, where is the "First Lady" (a former educator and education advocate)?

When the economy has crushed businesses and everyday working people in Idaho, all we can do is protest raises in taxes and write or call our House Representatives.

By holding the legislature hostage, good ol' Butch is using up one teacher's salary per day. That sure sounds bad, when he won't budge on his precious roads plan.

Small businesses are going to be decimated by Obama's increase in taxes and cuts to small business deductions. Maybe Otter should change parties like Arlen Spector and keep on raising taxes like a good Democrat.

She's in a way too pink outfit in a PSA.

Stop wasting 30k/day. Recall butch Otter

Wasting a "teacher a day" when ITD already is getting more funding (despite an audit showing waste). This is long overdue:

Not even Tony Soprano would waste a teacher
