Boise State has received renewals for 78 percent of its football season tickets, the school announced Friday.
At a similar stage last year, Boise State had received renewals for 89 percent of tickets, ticket manager Anita Guerricabeitia said. However, that was around the first of June.
Only 3 percent of ticket-holders have outright dropped their seats so far, which is normal, Boise State reported. The other 19 percent haven't contacted Boise State and the ticket office will be making phone calls and sending postcards to get answers from them. That is a standard procedure that usually increases the renewal rate.
Guerricabeitia said the economy, and not rising ticket prices, were behind many of the drops.
"We're hearing a lot of economic hardships," Guerricabeitia said.
Boise State had 20,854 season-ticket holders last year, not counting the Stueckle Sky Club. A 10 percent dip would be less than 2,100 tickets. Boise State has about 1,000 people wanting about 3,500 tickets on its waiting list, Guerricabeitia said. Fans on the waiting list will be contacted in mid-June, after the ticket office contacts the remaining season-ticket holders and moves fans who requested different seats for this season.
We'll have a more thorough breakdown of the season-ticket numbers in Sunday's Idaho Statesman.

What came first, the chicken or the egg?
"Guerricabeitia said the economy, and not rising ticket prices, were behind many of the drops."
If the economy is that bad and people can not pay the existing ticket prices.....common sense states that you must raise the prices, right? That is Business 101, right?
I hope the ticket pricing increase backfires and the economy corrects this pricing/reupping-for-season-tickets issue. Perfect example is the Yankess brand new stadium, they had to cut the ultra expensive seats behind home plate in hal ( yes, in half) since no one was attending the games. How do these upper management people keep their jobs....makes my spin.
On the flip side, the season tix pricing is not all that bad compared to other top 25 schools...the only caveat is that the other top 25 schools have a great home schedule year in and year out vs the feeble home schedule that BSU reguraly enjoys....
Just plain greedy
Well last year we paid 950 for 2 season tickets which included BAA fees, this year it was $1200 for both and it will be more next year. Probably will not renew next year and it will be because of BSU's increased fees. Come on BSU you know people are dropping their seats becasue you rasied prices, dont blame the economy to try to make yourselves look better.
I really hope a lot of people drop their season tickets, it would serve BSU right.
Ticket Prices are #2 reason
Economy is #1
The increased Ticket Prices atop a bad economy is a very close #2.
Those I know who are dropping tix say it's a combination of the two, most of them said if the prices were the same as last year then they may have bit the bullet but can't afford the increase.
Leave the spin to the legislature and Luna.
Ticket Prices
I was a season ticket holder...until this year. I will not be renewing solely based on the price. A year on year increase of 17% finnaly hit my tollerance. Had the prices remained the same as last year...we would have renewed our Wrangler level ($950) "contribution" to the BAA and bought the tickets..with the increase in ticket prices my 4 tickets would have been more than $3000 this year...and that is to much
There's radio
For those of you who can't affordit it, there is always, the radio/tv/internet option. As for myself I am ready for the season. Can't wait for the Oregon game. :)

For those of you that cannot spell...there is always Kuna Elementary
SUM is when you add numbers and get a total.
Those 9 year olds at Kuna Elementary will grow up and have to bury you someday, son. I'd go easy.

PS I saw the Skyboxes yesterday for the first time in person...
Well, more or less while running around town.
Kinda looks crammed but works.

Trust me...
By the time September comes around, Bronco Nation will be in full force. I predict a sellout for most home games. For those who don't renew their tickets, they are going to regret it later on.
If Peak goes bankrupt, will KSRV carry the games still?

I'm going to have to get satellite to see them anyway.
