Need an idea for Valentine's Day? Wine tasting benefits the Wishing Star Foundation

Take your valentine out for a fun evening and support a good cause at the same
time. Tickets are still available at the door on Saturday, Feb. 14, for the
Wishing Star Foundation's Wine Tasting Extravaganza. The party starts at 7 p.m.
at the Hilton Garden Inn on Spectrum Street in Boise. Tickets: $25, $50/couple, $160/table of eight.

The event features live auctions, light appetizers, a dessert auction, dancing and, of course, wine. Sweet Briar will provide the music for this year’s rock ‘n’ roll-themed event. More information

Another good cause for your calendar: The Learning Lab is holding its annual Lunch for Literacy at noon on Thursday, Feb. 19, at the Boise Centre on The Grove. The silent auction begins at 11 a.m. Tickets are $50. Call 344-1335, Ext. 101, to check on ticket availability.

The annual fundraiser features a book and literacy-oriented silent auction, a speech from a Learning Lab student and a guest author who speaks on the importance of literacy. This year’s guest author is Nancy E. Turner, who wrote the Sarah Prine series: “These Is My Words,” “Sarah’s Quilt” and “The Star Garden." More information
