Leaders of the Nez Perce, Coeur d’Alene and the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes have expressed support for EchoHawk and said he does not support weakening Indian gaming rights. EchoHawk is a member of the Pawnee tribe.

EchoHawk would be the first Mormon appointed to a high-ranking position in the Obama administration, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.
