Luna ends speculation; he will not run for Congress in 2010
The field of potential GOP challengers to Democratic Rep. Walt Minnick has thinned by one.
Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna has been rumored as a possible contender. In December, The Hill, a Capitol Hill newspaper, listed Luna as a prospect. This week, the unequivocal notion blog said Luna was “almost assured” to make the race.
Luna’s spokeswoman put an end to that talk Wednesday with this simple e-mail: “Superintendent Luna is not running for Congressional District 1 in 2010.”
Should Luna choose to seek a second four-year term, he would be on the ballot for that office in 2010.
Other possible GOP candidates who say they are mulling the race include Attorney General Lawrence Wasden of Nampa, former state Controller Keith Johnson of Boise and Sen. John McGee of Caldwell.
The man Minnick defeated in November, former Rep. Bill Sali, filed a statement of candidacy for 2010 with the Federal Election Commission last week. But Sali subsequently said he hasn't decided whether to run.

Yeah, but that means he gets to continue to torture cute little school kids and their teachers.

Hey brt929 He's not in the classroom so get off his back. Frankly, he's already done more for teachers than Marilyn Howard. Better pay, textbooks and classroom supplies. And you call that torture! Give me a break!
