As if the BCS wasn't corrupt enough ...
The Bowl Championship Series rules state that just two teams from any one conference can participate in the five bowl games that make up the BCS.
Apparently that's not true.
If two teams from one conference are ranked 1-2 and neither is the conference champion, then all three teams would make the BCS.
This scenario is possible, though not likely, in the Big 12 this season – with Texas Tech, Texas and Oklahoma all in the top five of the BCS Standings. Whoever wins the Big 12 South will have to play Missouri in the Big 12 title game.
The L.A. Times has the story here.
Apparently, the Austin (Texas) American Statesman was given a different answer by the BCS a few weeks ago.
CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd outlines the doomsday scenario.
This system is corrupt because the rules seem to change each season. It is time for a 16-team playoff — all 11 conference champions and the five highest-ranked at-large teams (use the BCS rankings if you want).
First- and second-round games are at home sites. The semifinals and championship games are at predetermined sites, preferably the same one for a week-long celebration of college football.
Run the tournament through late December and into early January.
The bowl games can still exist with first-round losers eligible for bowl games. The bowl games are played on weekdays in December (like they are now) and on Jan. 1.
Let's get this done.

National Championship Game
Well if both Boise State and Ball State are the only undefeated teams left after thier respective grueling schedules then they should be the ones playing for the National Championship. Right?
what ?
What about Utah? Your calling them lost to BYU already?
what
They lucked out in the last minute against Oregon State and TCU maybe they can`t do that three times
Agreed. Let's get it done!
It is time that the FBS (an elitist acronmym given to Div 1A schools by the politburo BCS)goes to a playoff system. The BCS snobs even thumbed their nose at our president-elect; how hubris! Go Murph!
Hmmm
While I love me some BSU football... I don't really see why this scenario is so bad. I mean, come on... Texas Tech, Texas and Oklahoma have GREAT teams this year. If they all get into BCS games this year and BSU is left out in the cold... is it really such a travesty?
Now, if it was Penn State, Ohio State and... I don't know, let's just say Michigan State for the sake of argument... THEN I RIOT.
YES
Texas, TT, and OK all deserve a bowl game! IF BSU fits in, then fine; but it is not something to cry over. When BSU decides to quit milking the system and only playing MAYBE one good team each year then you BSU fans can start crying. You know Peterson is not interesting in playing a Georgia or Florida, or even a Big 10 team this year, that would ruin their chance to go undefeated...in the WAC.
Er...
How does one NOT go undefeated in the WAC by potentially losing to a team not in the WAC?
You can still go undefeated in your conference and lose to a non-conference team.
The real BSU
Ball State should be number 1!!! Boise is second best team in the country and Utah is third...Florida, Texas, TTech, Oklahoma and USC should go to a playoff format for 4th place...
Obama is Right
*Can't believe those words are coming out of my mouth*
I've finally found something I agree with Obama on. A CFB playoff would be great.
Git 'er done!
rotflol
hahahahaha! Yeah - I cannot believe I also agree with Obama on this.
If BSU is hyped, then let's pop the BSU love balloon and let them play teams with similar W-L seasons.
Let's see - that would be Utah and Ball state? Ewww...maybe not. (Not that BSU would lose to either!)
But I do agree, just like 95% of the rest of the country (way to go Obama - nice demographics there sport!) that we need to do something about this BCS silliness.
Git 'er done!
LOL! Let's see just how desperate the BCS elites get as time goes on. Remember - the destruction of the BCS system means the potential loss of MILLIONS in currently guaranteed revenue for the berth conferences.... I wouldn't want to let it go, either. :!
Hoo boy! What you say!
You say I, BORIS BADENOV, new head man in BCS am nogoodnik?
Scheduling Argument
You know...we Bronco fans come under a ot of scrutiny because of our schedule, the majority of it being out of our control i.e. WAC teams. But something has to be said about Florida scheduling The Citadel late in their season. Really gators, The Citadel? I can understand having that game in the first couple games of the season to use as a warm-up game, but to schedule them as one of your last two games of the season is rediculous. Just thought I would share that as it sparked my interest.
Go Broncos!!!!!!
BTW- I still question Bleymeier's decision to put UC Davis on th schedule for next year. How about a Mountain West team Gene, C'mon!
Coach Pete
is scouting their best players.
BCS BS
We do need a playoff system. There needs to be more equity in the BCS games. Just because Cincinnati is the winner of a "BCS conference" they will go to a BCS Bowl game with an overall record of 9-2. (They could end up 9-4 if they lose at home to Syracuse who beat ND and can't get by Hawaii in Honolulu) Go to espn.com and check their schedule and the apparent strength of that conference. Sure, when the Bearcats played some of their conference opponents they were "ranked." I believe that the conference affiliations need to be taken out if the mix but as we all know it's all about the money.
Can we corrupt it ANY MORE? Then we can always go!

If this had been an actual troll post the attention seeking you just read would've been followed by screaming, name-calling and cutting and pasting for no apparent reason. We now return you to the Idaho Statesman already in progress.
