I've got some good news for craft beer fans in the Treasure Valley this week. The Front Door (105 S. 6th St. in Boise) is hosting two “Brewers Nights” this week with regional brewers — Montana-based Big Sky Brewing on Tuesday and Boise-area favorite Lagunitas Brewing Co. (Petaluma, California) on Thursday, from 6-to-8 p.m. both nights.
These are very cool events, so if you are a fan of either company (both have superb beers) try to stop by for a pint or two. Representatives from Big Sky (Tuesday) and Lagunitas (Thursday) will be there to hang out and answer questions. There will be drink specials and the reps from the breweries will be giving away swag.
For Tuesday’s Big Sky night, the Front Door will have Slow Elk Oatmeal Stout, Powder Hound Winter Ale, and Scapegoat Pale Ale on tap. They will also tap a cask of the Powder Hound for all you “real ale” enthusiasts out there.
Thursday’s Lagunitas night has a similarly awesome selection. The Front Door will have Lagunitas’ Cappuccino Stout, Brown Sugga Ale, and Imperial Red Ale on tap and the Maximus IPA on cask. The Front Door will also debut Lagunitas’ Hop Stoopid — a huge imperial IPA that is even stronger than the Maximus.
The only bummer about the Thursday’s event is that it’s the day after the Hold Steady/Drive-By Truckers “Rock and Roll Means Well Tour” hits the Knitting Factory. I don’t know how many people who attend what promises to be the local rock show of the year will be up for drinking any beer the next night.
