Boise State has gained another oral commitment from a Capital High football player.

Offensive lineman Bryant Thomas (6-foot-2, 250 pounds) committed to the Broncos on Thursday, he told Jesse Zentz, our Varsity Extra blogger.

Thomas plays guard at Capital. He played tackle earlier in the season.

“He’s a fantastic athlete,” Capital coach Todd Simis said. “I think he has the movement and feet you see in skill positions. He’s just bigger.”

Thomas was fired up by the prospect of playing for the Broncos and coach Chris Petersen.

“I put a lot of work in and finally get a chance to see it really pay off,” Thomas said. “I can’t wait to play for Coach Pete. I will be dedicated to his program on and off the field.”

Thomas will join Capital wide receiver Geraldo Hiwat in signing with Boise State. Thomas is the 14th commitment for 2009 confirmed by the Idaho Statesman.

We’ll have a full story on Thomas in Friday’s newspaper.

In other recruiting news:

— Wide receiver recruit Kirby Moore of Prosser (Wash.) High set a national record last week for career receiving touchdowns. Moore caught four TD passes in the first half against Ephrata for a career total of 86 — three more than the previous record held since 1996 by Abram Booty of Evangel Christian in Shreveport, La.

— Linebacker Allen Mooney of O'Dea High in Seattle is out for the rest of the year with a knee injury.

Lets get it on

This is the place to talk Broncos v Vandals. Lets keep it about football.

Love it

Love it when we get to watch local kids play for the Broncos!!

Oh man!

I cannot wait to watch Kellen throwing to his brother next year! WOW!!! Wonder if this will get us 'brother bits' stories like the two kids at SJSU?
There must be something in that water up there in Prosser!!!

VERBAL commitment. Let's keep it free from ambiguity.

Otherwise you took a telephone guy off the pole who was leering at women and making rude comments or something.

Lest you think I'm just crazy...

Radio people around here, especially Lon Dunn at KBOI always used to say we had "a patchy fog" for weather (Apache?) and had to stop that a long time ago.

I do hope he wasn't injured while they got him off that pole.

If this had been an actual troll post the attention seeking you just read would've been followed by screaming, name-calling and cutting and pasting for no apparent reason. We now return you to the Idaho Statesman already in progress.
