Ian Johnson looks fine; Hout expected to make impact

Boise State tailback Ian Johnson looked fine during pregame warm-ups for tonight’s game at New Mexico State. Johnson appeared to injure his arm on his goal-line fumble against San Jose State and was seen on campus wearing a cast. He is not wearing a cast for the game and is expected to play his normal role.

Other notes:

-- Tailback D.J. Harper also looks fine. He was limited last week because of an injury.

-- It appears the Broncos will start with the offensive line they named on Monday — (from left) Andrew Woodruff, Jon Gott, Thomas Byrd, Kevin Sapien and Matt Slater.

-- This should be the week that freshman Byron Hout makes an impact on defense. Hout, a linebacker/defensive lineman who gave up his redshirt a few games into the season, gives the Broncos an extra pass rusher against the Aggies’ Air Raid offense. The Broncos will use a lot of ends so they can stay fresh against a fast-moving, pass-first offense.

-- The Broncos say Jeremy Childs, Vinny Perretta and Tanyon Bissell all have the speed to get deep. The Broncos have not hit a deep ball to a wide receiver in their past four games, a fact coaches attribute to the opposing defenses and a lack of pass protection when the deep balls were called.

Let's hear it for the Shoe Tackle!

Did you all love Ian coming out of his shoe last night for a touchdown? Awesome. Ian of '06! I think he's back :)
And now he has more skills than ever - he tackles! he catches! he blocks punts!

Even though

I loved seeing Ian run like in 06' I have to say it was against a sub par team. I'm not going to say he's back b/c he never did leave, the offensive line he had in 06 did though. Great game BSU and I had a hunch you would give them Aggies a Goose Egg.

you're right

he never did leave! I guess I was just meaning "back" in the form of "making huge plays". We are missing that offensive line, totally. The holes certainly aren't there.

comments at espn.com

read some things that should go on BSU's bulletin board in the locker room:

"It would be a good thing if Boise State makes the Fiesta Bowl as they would get destroyed and we would never have to hear about all the non-BCS crap again."

"this boise st team would bet throttled be this OU team.....just sayin"

"...a friend of mine described a Boise fan as a cross between a Wyoming and BYU fan. Stupid, and for some unknown reason, arrogant."

"Oregon is 6-3 with 3 losses to BSU, USC and Cal
6 wins
Washington 0-8
Washington St 1-8
Utah State 2-7
Purdue 3-6
UCLA 3-5
ASU 2-6
That is a combined record of 11-40! Now those are some quality Wins! You should be proud of beating a "great" Oregon team!"

This is a sampling from a lot of anti-Bronco comments. Just gets me fired up for the rest of the season. Go Broncos!

Wow

I was watching that Texas vs. Tex Tech game and even though I'm a bronco fan, I don't think this Bronco team could be competitive at that level. They looked very fast and hard hitting. If we get in the BCS I'll still back my Bronco's but this team has some maturing to do and I'm going to love the ride seeing these freshmen come of age. For now I would like to see this team in the Poinsetta Bowl and BCS later. Go Bronco's I'm wit ya where ever ya all end up!!

LOL!

Yeah - that stuff that the rest of the nation churns out against BSU both annoys and humors me. Why do so many "experts" have so much trouble accepting BSU as a good team? We're not saying we're Texas-beating good, but at least give us credit for being good! I think that our non-standard way of doing things (blue turf, to start!) just annoys people. HA HA!! Get used to it!
GOOOO BRONCOS!!!!!
