Boise State 49, New Mexico State 0 (final)

Stat of the game: Every Bronco who made the trip played in the game except quarterback Drew Hawkins (redshirt) and tight end Chris O'Neill (foot injury), who made the trip and was on crutches.

Fourth quarter

Boise State 49, New Mexico State 0

BSU: Kyle Wilson 71 punt return (Brock Jaramillo kick), 14:38
Drive notes: Wilson, who fumbled his last punt return attempt, broke down the left sideline for the first touchdown of his career.

Third quarter

Boise State 42, New Mexico State 0

BSU: Jeremy Childs 29 pass from Ian Johnson (Kyle Brotzman kick), 11:54
Drive notes: The Broncos got the ball at the NMSU 23 after the Aggies tried a fake punt from their own 13. New Mexico State completed a pass on the fake, but was well short of the first down.

BSU: D.J. Harper 5 run (Brock Jaramillo kick), 0:58
Drive notes: Tight end Kyle Efaw had back-to-back catches for 17 and 27 yards on the drive.

Second quarter

Boise State 28, New Mexico State 0

BSU: Ian Johnson 11 run (Kyle Brotzman kick), 14:49
Drive notes: The Broncos took possession at the NMSU 38 after a Kyle Wilson interception. ... It was the 52nd career rushing touchdown for Johnson. He is just two shy of tying LaDainian Tomlinson for second all-time in the WAC. Marshall Faulk is the all-time leader in the conference with 57.

BSU: Jeremy Avery 10 run (Kyle Brotzman kick), 13:01
Drive notes: Kellen Moore completed a 13-yard pass to Jeremy Childs on third-and-9 from the NMSU 23.

BSU: Austin Pettis 23 pass from Kellen Moore (Kyle Brotzman kick), 10:04
Drive notes: The Broncos started the drive at the NMSU 49 after a 15-yard penalty for interference on a punt return, then the Aggies committed a 15-yard pass interference penalty to aid the Bronco drive.

First quarter

• The first quarter went very quickly as New Mexico State ran the ball on 11 of its 13 offensive plays. Aggies' QB Chase Holbrook was 0-for-2 with an interception in the first quarter.

Boise State rushed for 72 yards on 10 carries in the first quarter.

Boise State 7, New Mexico State 0

BSU: Jeremy Childs 14 pass from Moore (Kyle Brotzman kick), 7:00
Drive notes: The touchdown pass came on fourth-and-3 from the NMSU 14.

• Defensive end Ryan Winterswyk started at defensive tackle for the Broncos. Shea McClellin started at defensive end.

The decision was a purely done for matchup purposes as a way of generating more pass rush against the Aggies' pass-happy offense. Of course, New Mexico State opened the game with four consecutive runs.

Pre-game

• Boise State is not getting a lot of help from the WAC in its quest for a BCS bowl berth.

Fresno State, which was expected to be a top-25 team by the time it played the Broncos on Nov. 29, lost its third game of the season Saturday. Louisiana Tech beat Fresno State 38-35 Saturday.

Hawaii lost to Utah State, diminishing the Broncos' victory against the Warriors a little bit.

And Oregon — which I know is not in the WAC — is losing to California.

UPDATE: Looks like it's just about over for the Ducks.

The computers, which like the Broncos right now, are probably not going to be as much help after the Broncos finish their stretch against New Mexico State, Utah State and Idaho.

Like it or not, the Mountain West Conference is perceived as a better league than the WAC this season — and that is what will keep Utah ahead of Boise State if they both win out. It will also help TCU if the Horned Frogs finish with one loss.

Both BCS analyst Jerry Palm and even WAC commish Karl Benson have said one-loss TCU has a chance of passing an undefeated Boise State.

You're judged by the company you keep!

Never have I seen a better argument for getting out of the wantabee WAC. BSU will always have an uphill battle living in such a weak conference.

The time and talent level is perfect to make an upwardly mobile move. We are judged by the company we keep... and our pad is on the wrong side of the tracks!

can KTVB please get some new announcers..

my god...

Here is a novel idea

why not let TCU play BSU? Oh, right. That would require a playoff system. My bad.

I hate to nit pick..

but BSU is on pace to commit about 200 penalties this game...

Mark Johnson must be drunk

He doesn't have a clue who's in the game or who's in on a play. Let Tom Scott just do it all and save the coin from paying that moron. Anybody at KTVB listening or give a rip? Bronco fans are used to real broadcasting from ESPN and you're not even close.

NO EXPERIENCED NEEDED TO BE AN ANNOUNCER...

Not one of them has ever put on a chinstrap or jockstrap...what did you expect????? Gene Blaymier's pet
announcers and station...bad reception on Direct too...don't wish for ESPN announcers...we might get the three stoogies again..James,Flute and Flower...they were a joke.

My Fav....

My favorite Mark Johnson moment in tonight's broadcast was when he said that Doug Martin weighed "200 yards". A close second was when he was introducing the Sunday night football game and mentioned that Tom Brady would be facing Peyton Manning in the game this week. Tom called him on it and he got a little defensive saying that Tom was still with the team.......

I appreciate the games being broadcast......but...

Fixing the KTVB problem

is as simple as hitting the "mute" button and turning on the radio.

It will get frustrating for all those who see the WAC as weak (and it truly is) over the next couple games. Utah State and Idaho (though showing recent signs of life) are just as woeful as NMSU.

Still, BSU is blowing the bad teams out without trying to run up scores (ala Tulsa, which just got its' comeuppance today at Arkansas). Hopefuly the computers and humans will take note when the polls and BCS rankings come out tomorrow.

Go Broncos!

Fixing the KTVB problem

Turning on the radio KIDO isnt much better. Boring, boring.

I've got a friend I'll rent out!

One of our regular BSU watching buddies is a friend of ours who was a kicker for BSU back during the "Four Horseman" days.
Anyhow, I always tell Jeff that I love watching games with him . He's on the game 100%, can call the penalties before KTVB has a chance to screw them up, and even gives strategic input! It's like having John Madden sitting here with us. A very excited John Madden! Except, he does not start every other sentence with "Now here's a guy..."

GOOOO BRONCOS!!!

Hey Murph...

... after Utah's pathetic performance tonight, are you finally going to convince Prater that he has been wrong all along to keep them ahead of the Broncos on his AP ballot? Remind him that the Lobos team that just took Utah to the wire did not take the lead in their game against NMSU until late in the 4th quarter... the same Aggie team that BSU just annihilated.

Get out of the WAC

Boise State will never get any attention or respect no matter how good they are because they live in the WAC. Of all the NON-BCS teams on ESPN College football scores, Tulsa was mentioned for losing and Utah was mentioned as pulling out a close one. No mention of BSU at all. Part of that is bias agains any non BCS team and part of it is the WAC. If Boise had been in any other major conference they would get all sorts of respect for the things they do year after year after year.

WAKE UP EVERYONE. ITS TIME TO MOVE ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John

Everyone...

... doesn't have a say in the matter. It's entirely up to the presidents of the universities in the other conference.

...really John?

Wow, we didn't know that. Gosh, we should have known that the WAC is weak. You act like we've got a choice in the matter. By the way, have you seen what we have done to our facilities. We did so, because we want out of the WAC. It's only a matter of time before there is a shakeup in the Mountain West. My guess, San Diego State will be out of that conference and back in the WAC, and that will make room for us. The Pac 10 is not even an option as the president of that conference is an idiot and has been steadfast in his decision to keep the division the way it is. Afterall, that conference is soooooo strong from the bottom up. The state of Washington has strong representation in the PAC-8...errgh Pac-10.

Not quite...

BSU wouldn't get recognized if they were in a real conference, because if they were in a real conference, they'd get blown out every single week because they'd have to play real teams. Try scheduling a decent team (Georgia again maybe) before you think you are ready to jump in with the big boys.

Announcers

After the first game, I e-mailed KTVB and begged them to do something about their announcers. Although they say they respond to every E-mail - still no response. I bought tickets to all the home games because of the announcing.
I used to turn down sound and listen to PJS. Now that is not a choice.
My favorite was when New Mexico declined a penalty and Mark Johson decided ut was a downs loss penalty. He never picked up on the fact that the penalty had been declined.
Part of this is the fans fault because their ratings are great because we all want to watch the game.

We concur

Top ten football team and bottom 10 game announcing! This has got to be the worst game broadcasting I have ever heard. The problem is the need to be heard over knowing what one is talking about. Our household tolerates their noise only because we love our BSU Broncos. Thank God we are going to the game next week so we can pass on KTVB awful announcing.

...wheres Polo?

Anybody see that center that the d-Bag Polo Guttierrez was talking about?

Nice Win Broncos!

Dear MWC...

...can we pleeeeease come and play in your conference? We have a really neat blue football field that looks cool and bizarre on TV. We just built a bunch of fancy schmancy boxes and luxury suits and our stadium is starting to look like a Big School. Our games are sell outs and we stuff our stadium every game. (No embarassing San Jose stadium looks here!) Our fans are probably among the most civil and fun to be around in the country. Oh - and we have the winningest football team in ALL of the NCAA this entire decade. We'll let you have our H-Bowl and everything! Thank you - The Boise State Broncos
