Add the Boise State tight ends to the exploding list of Kellen Moore fans.
The group recorded 10 catches for 123 yards and two touchdowns last week against Oregon. They combined for 40 percent of the team’s catches, 32 percent of the receiving yards and two of the three receiving touchdowns.
The group also contributed plays that covered 34 and 21 yards.
“We definitely got the opportunities,” said senior Chris O’Neill, one of four tight ends with a catch in that game. “You’ve got to give a lot of credit to Kellen. He just finds the open guy. He finds the open guy better than some of the other quarterbacks you see on TV.”
Only a couple of the catches were designed for tight ends, O’Neill said. Other times, the tight ends got open or got lost by the Ducks defense.
“We always say we’re open,” O’Neill said. “We’re open, but sometimes we’re not that first read. I think we were open a little more this game. They were paying more attention to our outside guys.”

I subscribe to collegebcs.com, a Web site run by BCS guru Jerry Palm. I’ll pass on his analysis on the Broncos each week.
Palm puts up projected BCS standings before the actual standings start appearing in October. The standings aren’t totally accurate because not all of the computer rankings are available, but he does a good job with it.
This week, Boise State is No. 18. BYU is No. 10. Utah is No. 11. TCU, East Carolina and Fresno State are not in the top 25.
Palm also does bowl projections. He has Utah in the Fiesta Bowl and Boise State playing Florida State in the Humanitarian Bowl.

So this gentleman...
...is saying that the Broncos will lose at some point in the season, which no one knows. Southern Miss and Nevada are tricky road games but I don't see BSU losing at home this year.
If Utah, and Boise State end the season undefeated
only one non-bcs team would get into a bcs game. Utah would go this year because they are higher in the polls and the computers would favor the strength of an undefeated record in the MTN West over an undefeated record in the WAC. Chances are, BYU will still be undefeated going into the final game against Utah and both teams could be highly ranked. The winner probably gets the BCS bid unless they both lose a game in conference prior to their game.
It could be a repeat of 2004, when Utah and BSU were undefeated in the same year. Utah went to the Fiesta bowl (against a team that didn't deserve to be there) and BSU played Louisville in the Liberty Bowl. I always felt bad for Utah. They deserved a better opponent to show how good they really were that year. If the rules were the same as when BSU played Oklahoma, Utah probably would have been playing Auburn. That would have been a fun game to watch.
It's too early
to be talking about bowl games. One of the espn.com bowl predictions has BSU in the Rose Bowl against Wisconsin. As great as that would be, it's too early to pay any attention to them.
True, it is too early...but
Isn't it really nice to be considered a potential Rose Bowl team... says a lot about how far this program has come. I know, Idaho fans, we've still got a long way to go.
I thought
I thought that no one from a non-BCS conference was allowed into the Rose Bowl. Am I wrong?
Rose Bowl
Teams outside of the BCS confernces can get into the Rose bowl by the PAC-10 champ going to the National Championship game which gives the game an At-Large spot to fill. Most likely they will try and fill this slot with the second place finisher from the PAC-10 but they do not have to if they feel they can get a better match-up with a team outside of that Conference
Succession to the Presidency is a lot easier...

Gotcha
Thank you for the clarification.

Thats a great point and I think your right. From my limited understanding if there happens not to be a representative (for example if USC plays in the Nat Title and no one else in the PAC TEN finishes well) than maybe an invite could come outside of the conferences.
As little at three years ago Rose Bowl officials were against that, however last spring talk was for a possibly changing that if no teams could qualify. I think its a long shot but really cool to think about.
Thank you jb..you nailed it and

Sorry had an oportunity to finally say something smart on here so I had to get it as quickly as possible
Keep dreaming
First of all, with USC losing tonight, it's national championship hopes are gone. So forget about the Rose Bowl. These "predictions" are crap. Look back at all the people who had Ohio State playing in the National Championship. BSU will be in the either of the H-Bowls, Hawaii or Humanitarian. Most of the bowl games are in the south east. ANd I'm sorry to tell you that BSU doesnt travel very well to games that far away. Bowl organizers know this so they're much more inclined to pick teams with larger followings.
Secondly, if there is a BCS buster this year, it's going to be either BYU or Utah. They're strength of schedule is much higher than BSU. And the chances of both teams losing are next to none. Maybe next year, but with changes coming to BCS choices in the next few years and with the word being that after Hawaii's embarrassment, they're going to make it tougher for non-BCS schools a chance to get in, BSU will be left out until the join a tougher conference
Beg to differ...
And the chances of both teams losing are next to none.
One of them is guaranteed to lose at least once, since they play each other. I can see many scenarios in which they both finish with one loss. Also, don't count TCU out. If they win out, they will definitely move ahead of the Broncos and play in a BCS game. Right now, I'd say TCU definitely has the worst chance, since they have to play @ Oklahoma tomorrow. BYU has the next worst chance, since they have to play @ TCU and @ Utah. Utah has the best chance, but they still have to play that Oregon State team that just beat USC, as well as @TCU and home against BYU.
All three of these teams have probably less than a 25% chance of going undefeated against those schedules (TCU I'd only give a 2 or 3% chance). Meanwhile, BSU has around a 40% chance of going undefeated with their remaining schedule. Their only remaining tests are @ S. Miss, @ Nevada, and Fresno St. at home. That's a much easier row to hoe than what any of the Mtn. West teams have left. And before anyone quibbles with the probabilities that I put out there, keep this in mind. Even if a team has a 90% chance of winning every game on it's slate, if it has 9 games left, its chance of going undefeated is only 39%.
I should have clarified by
I should have clarified by saying both teams losing before their matchup. And with your statement, you furthered my point. BSU's schedule is crap. Even if BYU and Utah both lose a game, I would bet that their BCS standings at the end of the year is better than BSU's simply because of the strength of schedule.
No.
If either of those teams lose, and BSU doesn't, it will be BSU getting the BCS berth. Even with them both undefeated, they are barely ahead. How can you possibly believe they will stay ahead with a loss? Not going to happen. BSU's non-conference schedule is not substantially worse than BYU or Utah. Yes, they will each play two BCS teams, but especially in the case of BYU, those are very bad BCS teams (quite possibly the bottom 2 teams in the Pac-10 this year). Meanwhile, Oregon will more than likely finish in the top 3 of the Pac-10. And for non-BCS teams, Boise State has scheduled quite well, with Bowling Green and S. Miss both expected to contend for their league titles. As for the coference schedule, there is nothing any team can do about that, so there is no sense in discussing it.
help out
I don`t believe Oregon is going to help BSU as OSU did. OSU lost three of there first five games and Boise stayed stagnet in the rankings. Oregon State then put it together and won 7 of eight including USC. I just don`t see Oregon doing that. They were fourth in the PAC-10 last year and with no quarter backs this year it looks like another middle of the conference year for them.

"ANd I'm sorry to tell you that BSU doesnt travel very well to games"
Wrong, the only travel game we blew it on was last year in Hawaii when 1 month before we had a huge turn out there. Broncos travel well and the bowl people know it...
SOS
First SOS is almost meaningless in the BCS calculations. It is just a minor part of the computer polls which are only 1/3 of the total vote.
Second if Utah loses to Oregon state or someone else and TCU gets blasted by Oklahoma, BYU would finish the season without playing one ranked opponent.
BSU will probably play 2 ranked opponents if Fresno manages to beat UCLA and doesnt lose 2 other games before they play BSU.
Wow, wishful thinking from
Wow, wishful thinking from the homers of BSU. SOS may not count in computer votes, but you have to be kidding yourself if you think pollsters dont consider it. They know the WAC is crap and the Mountain West is someone respectable after what they did to the PAC-10. Who cares if BYU doesnt play a ranked opponent? They're rankings will still be higher because they dont play any of the joke WAC teams.
Man, just get that beauty sleep you need...it was a hard day 4 U
