We’re introducing a new contest here at Murph’s Turf — a pick-the-score contest for Boise State football games.
Here’s how it works:
Starting two days before the game (we’ll make it three this week), I’ll post a blog that invites fans to comment with their predicted score of the game.
Whoever comes closest to the actual score will win a $20 gift certificate from Domino’s. The certificates are only good in the Treasure Valley (sorry, my out-of-town readers, though, feel free to enter and send the gift certificate to a local).
The contest will end an hour before kickoff. The entries are time stamped.
When you register to make comments at IdahoStatesman.com, you put in an e-mail address. I will contact the winner through that e-mail address.

I was really only stating facts....Purdue (spelled correctly) is not a ranked team as Oregon is so I did not expect a close game, as I'm sure most people didn't. I don't believe there is any argument over the fact Oregon SHOULD'VE won that game easily......as they should against BSU. So we will see if the Mighty Ducks can perform as a #12 should or will it be another weekend like last weekend.
Purdue better than BSU
There is no question that Oregon will win this game. I'm pretty confident it will be a blow-out, but it won't be a high scoring affair. Considering Oregon will be rotating a true freshmen and a true sophmore JUCO transfer, who barely made it to fall camp, at Quarterback, I'm prdicting Chip Kelly will give the Bronco defense a heavy dose of Jeremiah Johnson and LaGarette Blount. BSU get ready for some long sustained drives by the Ducks, and a defense that very well may pitch a shutout. Autzen is too loud and, your players are too small, and you're not going to get any turnover charity like Purdue did last weekend.

Never stop dreaming........but
Boise State has a good football team and they have certainly proved they belong with the 'big boys' sometimes, but they have never been to Autzen Stadium. The Ducks will be up by 21 points before the Broncs know the game has started. Yes, the Ducks are deep in their QB depth chart but please remember that one of those QBs is a 4/5 star from the mid-west and the other is a JC All-American who understands the offense almost as well as the OC. They are as good, or better, than anyone you will see in the WAC.
Oregon also has a defense that ranks among the best in the country, arguably as good as, or better than, USC's. They are big and extremely fast, they have to play the 'big boys' every week.
So enjoy your trip to Eugene, look around and see the facilities, experience what crowd noise REALLY is, and then go back to Boise and tell your friends that you now know what real Big Time College Football is. Heck, Boise is trying to be Portland so BSU might as well try to be Oregon. Boise is still about 50 years behind but BSU really isn't that far away, maybe 8 or 10 years. You're about even with the BarkRats in CornValley.

I agree that Oregon will likely win but I think the score will be a lot closer then you are predicting. Somewhere around a 7 or 10 point difference. Maybe Oregon 27 and BSU 17 or 21. BSU will come to play and Oregon will have some trouble with Moore and his receivers. I don't think BSU will be able to run much and they won't be able to pass for many long gains because of the pressure on the Quarterback. I hope Oregon tries to blitz a lot because they think a freshman is playing quarterback. That will be good for some good BSU gains if the BSU coaches call the right plays. Moore ain't no freshman in his understanding of the game and how to deal with a blitz and who is coming after him.

Im sorry but I couldn't let this one slide. Oregon's D is as good or better than USC? What planet are you living on? Oregon would have gotten beat by Ohio St. and USC made them look like a high school team. Im all for pulling for your team but lets keep reality in the debate somewhat.

Yeah, except for the big middle linebacker, Maluaega or something, the Ducks are as good as, or better than, the Trojans. Oregon has a better secondary than USC, as the Purdue coach said "two of them are All-American and the other two are All-World." Oregon travels most of the way across the country and beats Big-10 teams in Big-10 stadiums, something I doubt your Broncos could do. And if Ohio State played in Autzen, Oregon would blow them out, it might be closer in The 'Shoe.
BSU has a great program going and I expect them to continue to improve, you folks appear to be doing it right, but you can't seriously think the Broncs could play a PAC-10 schedule. And you can't possibly think they can hang with one of the top PAC-10 teams for more than maybe a half. I mean, you LOST TO THE FUSKIES LAST YEAR, and it doesn't get much worse than that, at least from a PAC-10 perspective.
But go ahead and dream, make yourself believe. That's what real fans do and you folks are definitely real ---and good---fans, you are the reason BSU is developing a fine football program and is at or near the top of the WAC every year. On Saturday you will learn the difference between the top of the PAC and the top of the WAC.

I was just wondering if you still think Oregon's D is better than USC's? They did hold BSU's QB to only 390 yards so that secondary must really be all world. Its OK sometimes your too deep in the Forrest to see the trees. I think the broncos showed you how good your D really is. Im sure Sanchez is really worried about facing those safeties and DB's now. We heard the same BS from the OU fans before the Fiesta Bowl. As Dan Hawkins said, "that's why they play the game". I remember the night before the Fiesta bowl some OU fans said to me, "welcome to Big Time College Football". As the saying goes, he who laughs last, laughs best. On of the things I'll be looking out for at the game is can the Ducks fans be as big A-Holes as the Huskies fans were last year. You're off to a great start.
