Idaho 42, Idaho State 27 (final)

Fourth Quarter

Idaho 42, Idaho State 27

UI — Nathan Enderle 7 run (Tino Amancio), 12:48
Drive notes: The Vandals kept the ball on the ground for most of its 93-yard drive.

ISU — Isiah Burel 18 pass from Russel Hill (Jarrett Huk kick), 8:39
Drive notes: Eddie Thompson tied the ISU record for receptions in a game on the drive. Thompson has 15 catches in the game.

ISU – Jaron Taylor 17 pass from Russel Hill, 4:45
Drive notes: Eddie Thompson set the ISU record for receptions in a game on the drive with his 16th reception. The big play of the drive was a 30-yard shovel pass.

•Checking the out-of-town scoreboard:

Look at what East Carolina is doing. The Pirates, who defeated Boise State in last year's Hawaii Bowl, have opened the season with victories against Virginia Tech and West Virginia (24-3). The Pirates are Top 25 worthy and they will start getting consideration as the next BCS buster.

Colorado needed a fourth-quarter charge to top Eastern Washington. The Buffs survived 31-24, but it might be time for them to stop scheduling Football Championship Subdivision (the old Division I-AA) teams. Remember Montana State beat Colorado two years ago.

Third Quarter

Idaho 35, Idaho State 13

UI — Corey White 4 run (Tino Amancio kick), 12:35
Drive notes: Sophomore cornerback Isaac Butts intercepted ISU quarterback Russel Hill and returned the pick to the ISU 8 to set up the touchdown.

ISU — Eddie Thompson 9 pass from Russel Hill (PAT failed), 7:20
Drive notes: The Bengals put together a nice drive, but it might be too little too late. Thompson's touchdown catch was his 12th catch of the game.

• A break from the Idaho-Idaho State game:

BYU remained unbeaten today when the Cougars blocked Washington's extra-point attempt with two seconds remaining in the game.

From the Associated Press:

SEATTLE -- Jan Jorgensen busted through the line and blocked Ryan Perkins' 35-yard extra-point attempt with 2 seconds left in regulation, and No. 15 BYU held on to a 28-27 win over Washington on Saturday.

Jake Locker drove the Huskies 76 yards in 17 plays, capped by his 2-yard plunge to pull Washington within one. But Locker was called for unsportsmanlike conduct after the touchdown, replays showed Locker throwing the ball in the air before jumping with his teammates in the end zone.

Perkins approached the kick slowly and hit it low, giving Jorgensen a chance to get his paws on the kick.

From Murphy:

Ouch.

Second Quarter

Idaho 28, Idaho State 7

UI — Deonte Jackson 18 run (Tino Amancio kick), 7:06
Drive notes: Jackson carried seven times for 56 yards on the drive. The No. 2 rusher in the WAC last season, Jackson was held to 25 yards in the season opener. But against the Bengals he has been finding holes.

UI — Eddie Williams 16 pass from Nathan Enderle (Tino Amancio kick), 2:11
Drive notes: Idaho blocked an ISU field goal attempt and then marched 70 yards in seven plays for the touchdown. Enderle has been sharp throughout. On the drive, he was 3-for-3 for 51 yards.

First Quarter

Idaho 14, Idaho State 7

UI — Maurice Shaw 77 pass from Nathan Enderle (Tino Amancio kick), 14:22
Drive notes: The Vandals went deep on their first play from scrimmage and Shaw was well behind the Bengals' secondary.

UI — Eric Hunter blocked punt recovery in end zone (Tino Amancio kick), 9:56
Drive notes: A poor snap on the punt allowed Eric Hunter to block it and then he fell on the loose ball in the end zone.

ISU — Trevor Messersmith 5 pass from Russel Hill (Jarrett Hulk kick), 4:42
Drive notes: The Bengals put together an impressive 14-play, 80-yard drive. Hill was 7-of-10 passing for 59 yards on the drive, including a key 11-yard pass on third-and-10.

Pre-Game

MOSCOW — Welcome from the sparsely populated Kibbie Dome for the Idaho-Idaho State football game.

Idaho will be without starting outside linebacker JoJo Dickson, who injured his shoulder in practice Wednesday. Senior Andrew Blevins is expected to start in his place. Dickson, a sophomore, had four tackles in last week's loss to Arizona.

Check back for scoring updates.

• Thoughts from Saturday college football action:

— Colleague Nick Jezierny was quite proud of his Ohio Bobcats, who pushed Ohio State today. Ohio led throughout the first three quarters, but Ohio State rallied in the quarter for a 26-14 victory. Now Ohio State must get ready for USC, which looked like the top team in the country during last week's dismantling of Virginia.

— Georgia Tech, which changed coaches in the offseason and implemented Paul Johnson's option attack, upset Boston College. The Yellow Jackets, who played in the Humanitarian Bowl last year, have always been consistently inconsistent. But Johnson might be the coach to get them turned around and challenge for an ACC title.

Idaho

Ohh my God Idaho scored points!!! Hey Idaho, take a look at ECU!!!! The only thing you could give BSU crap about in the past decade is how we lost to them last year. Looks like that wasnt a fluke was it!! Check out how they man handled WV today. Suck it!!!

ECU is looking good.

It'd be a good year for the WAC to help them bust the BCS wide open.

the Best in Idaho

Now we can see who's the best in Idaho come 11/15 and I thought ISU might have a chance. BSU must have tenderized em for Idaho. It's easy to beat up on a soft team UI. Come November you better be ready for some hard hits. I'll give the Vandals this, you may have proved you do belong in the WAC. Now win some Div 1A teams to solidify that statement.

Belong in the WAC???

The Vandulls sucked in this game...they had to go full out to beat a 1AA school by 15....BSU layed off early in the third quarter and beat the same team by 42. While the Vandulls still had their first string in till the last whistle, BSU was playing 11 freshmen on defense in the fourth quarter...the Vandulls will lose at least 4 games in the WAC by at least 30 points...face it the Vandulls beat an average team from the Big Sky...which is where they belong and they wouldn't be a bottom dweller.

So True

Ya, I thought I would give them a pep talk for doing a good job and knew I would get slack from others for saying that. Truth is they don't belong in the WAC. Just thought I would throw them a bone.

It looks like

Tyrone Willingham should get his resume ready. What a horrid defense! Agsinst BYU too! Are you kidding me? Next week will be worse, maybe even bad enough for UW to dump Willingham mid-season. I can only hope.....

Hello?!

BYU is ranked 15th in the nation and have the longest winning streak in Division I football. They didn't exactly lose to chopped liver. What exactly is the surprise?

WHAA

Did you watch the game? UW couldn't shut them down, missed tackles, and folded. It was classic Willingham coaching. I was impressed for the most part, but seriously? Aside from lucky plays this game was just plain bad for UW. The Pac 10 shouldn't lose to Mountain West teams, and that's the truth, especially at home. Just wait until Oklahoma destroys them. It's a sad day for a Husky fan.

Good Game

Idaho looked really good. I was relieved, because I thought it was 50/50 after last week. Idaho isn't going to set the world on fire, but at least they're able to take care of a 1-AA team. Good job by the coaching staff patching the leaks on the boat (or replacing the entire bow) and preparing them for this game.

BYU/Washington

To the contrary, Washington is the Pac-10 equivalent of "chopped liver." A team ranked 15th in the nation should have been able to steamroll the Huskies, not escape from Seattle by the seat of their pants.

Yep

BYU is overrated. They'll lose three games at least.

Shazam?

Shazam...

MWC Rocks

MWC beat 3 Pac ten teams this week, the biggest defeat was:
BYU 59 UCLA 0
BYU rocks, beat UW at Washington. Something the donkeys could not do last year.
