From the easier-said-than-done department
Submitted by Kevin Richert on Tue, 09/02/2008 - 9:56am.
An alert listener pointed out a quibble with Sen. Barack Obama's otherwise impressive acceptance speech last week: the Democratic nominee's pledge to pore, line by line, through the federal budget looking for redundant and wasteful programs.
This promise struck the listener as a little bit hollow, and I agree. If it were that easy to find the wasteful programs (which, unfortunately, aren't sorted out accordingly in the appropriations bills), it'd have been done by now.
Yup, finding the wasteful programs. That can't take more than an afternoon.
I can just see the daily to-do list:
1. Espouse change.
2. Work on 18-foot jumper.
3. Find budget boondoggles.

Gee
like a president doesn't have a staff. Really Kevin, this just falls into the false Republican talking point that Obama lacks substance without you providing any basis. Why don't you take a gander at his website and quibble away?
Admit it, Mr. Richert,
Dude's a political stud muffin and we're marshmallows looking for chocolate and a graham cracker.
Chocolate, marshmallows, graham crackers? Are you saying...
smore's are a metaphor for the great melting pot???
Mmmmm, smore's for everyone!
No, we're just political marshmallows waiting for a fire...
and you can make anything you like out of it.
"From the easier said than done department"
Thought this was going to be a thread about Palin's stand on abstinence only programs!
Good point
Much of life is easier said than done and we often disappoint. Fortunately there is a process for seeking forgiveness when we fall short of the mark.
The worms do not care.
Richert: you should know all about easier said than done stuff..
...based upon my observations of you - everything is easier said than done. That's all you do is preach ad nauseum from your bully pulpit. Do you pay McClatchy for the privilege? What have you really accomplished in your life - outside of being a sperm donor and writing hollow editorials?
This is an uncalled for
personal attack. You add nothing of substance to the subject. It should be scrubbed.
Oh thank you kind sir! For a moment I thought perhaps you might
...not have read my post. But just knowing that you feel that it should be scrubbed made me feel so much more validated. We are indeed so lucky to have your purview and censorship over whether any of us peons add anything of substance to the subject. But again I bow down to your superior judgement Plutarch! LET IT BE SCRUBBED!
Good call Plutarch
There are plenty of ideas to be challenged this election year. Personal attacks and jerky responses are unneeded and a distraction from intelligent discussion.
Common D2 raise the bar.
You want it SCRUBBED but I flag.
That's a bit lazy kids. Whip it, whip it good!
