Knitting Factory to open daytime box office Wednesday
Submitted by Michael Deeds on Mon, 08/25/2008 - 12:28pm.
TicketWeb is closing its Idaho walk-up outlets at midnight, but the Knitting Factory, 416 S. 9th St., will open its own daytime box office at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
"You can not only expect reduced fees at the Knit box office, but also ticket specials and even free ticket giveaways to begin immediately," general manager Dean Hanson said via e-mail.
With any luck, the Record Exchange will be back selling Knitting Factory tickets in a week or two, even though it's one of the outlets discarded by TicketWeb. Hanson met with RX owner Michael Bunnell over the weekend, and it appears the Knit will use Boise's independent record store as an extension of its box office -- essentially, a satellite hub. Both locations will sell tickets that bear the TicketWeb name; they just won't be official TicketWeb outlets.
Keeping Knitting Factory ticket sales alive at the RX was important — it's another way to encourage customers to visit the store, possibly spending money on CDs, T-shirts or other pop culture goodies.
"We are definitely concerned with regard to our relationship with the Record Exchange, as well as the financial stability of all of our partners in the music business," Hanson said, "and I will do everything I possibly can to ensure that our rapport stays strong with the RX and the Boise music community."

Do they sell yarn?
The Knitting Factory....gee, I wonder what kind of business the 'Knitting Factory" is. Let's check their logo.....Yep! They sell yarn. Marketing geniuses, huh? 'THE BIG EASY HAD IT'S ISSUES, BUT A STUPID NAME WASN'T ONE OF THEM.
Since there are Knittting Factories across the US and they...
book an awful lot of gigs...they can be Fred G. Sanford if they wish.
Calm down a while Senor Fireball, you just got here!
Set a spell.
