You elk hunting gals are tough

New research on hunter demographics shows more women per capita are attracted to elk hunting than most other kinds of hunting, according to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
More than 60,000 elk hunters today are female. Though still predominantly a male pursuit, new data show that women compose 7.6 percent of all elk hunters. That’s greater representation than in turkey, duck, goose, dove, quail, pheasant, rabbit or squirrel hunting. In fact, among America’s most common game species, only deer hunting has a greater percentage of female participation.
“It seems a bit counterintuitive because elk hunting can be the quintessential ‘roughing it’ hunt. But, obviously, women are not intimidated by rugged country, large rifles, unpredictable weather and pursuing animals several times larger than they are,” said David Allen, president and CEO of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Good eating
I can understand why more women hunt. Elk is good eating. I don't hunt, but love to go to elk camp.
lady's love to hunt deer,elk, and other game.
the way i look at it is this way lady's that hunt big game, deer, elk, bison are putting meat on the table for thier families and its healther. whats wrong with it????? are men afraid that women can't hunt just as good as they can????
my husband and my 65 year old dad and i hunt big game, elk,& deer. we make bets on who will make the first kill and who will bring it out. all of which are great eaten. we would like to do big horn sheep and mt.goat and bison. i kill and feild dress deer, & elk. deer are a little easier to get out of a 150 yard draw then elk but its worth the chase and the kill for meat in the freeze. and to top everything off i butcher our own deer, & elk and that means three deer and two elk. lady's teach your girls to hunt and fish as well. i have taught my 4 girls to hunt and fish. here is a great book for cooking big game for the lady's Ted Nugent's big game cookbook. best book i bought and use all the time. so lady's keep up the great hunting.

The key word here is "most." Look it up in the dictionary.
I know it's somewhere after moist and before mountain.

My wife loves to hunt
My wife gets excited about hunting season, she is marking off the calendar and reminding me that we need to get out and scout for elk. Deer no problem. She is deadly out to 200 yards with her 300 SAUM. Last year I came home from work expecting to get started on cutting up our deer, she had it done, all I had to do was vacum seal everything. She also loves to fish, she wants to go halibut fishing next year.
Elk hunting is a blast!!!!
Season opens August 30th, I can't wait. My husband and I are headed up on Friday. People who have never hunted for elk have no idea how addicting it can be. Frustrating but addicting.
