L.A. Guns: New singer making a bang

Sunset Strip glam veterans L.A. Guns play the Knitting Factory on Monday night with opening acts Faster Pussycat, Bang Tango and The Dogs Divine (8 p.m. $18, TicketWeb. 2-for-1 tickets with discount code: GUNS).

Reader Cheryl Wilson wants you to know that L.A. Guns has a new singer: "Yes, I thought L.A. Guns was done with "Ballad of Jayne," too," she e-mails, "but they have hired an awesome new frontman that Boiseans need to check out next Monday - Marty Casey! Marty was in Chicago's Lovehammers and will be familiar to a ton of people as the 2nd place guy on Rock Star: INXS a couple years ago - he was the #1 vote recipient on the show (even though INXS picked that other guy who seems to have sunk without a trace - JD Fortune). L.A. Guns's Tracii Guns (founder of Guns n' Roses with Axl) totally reinvented his former 80's Sunset Strip band earlier this year - he had brought in Marty to co-write their next album (due out in March 2009) and liked him so much they asked him to step in as the new lead singer."

Cheryl, who would make a good publicist, also supplied links to a bunch of YouTube videos. Here's L.A. Guns on stage last month with Marty Casey on vocals. Shucks, ain't he hunky?

I don't even remember BOJ but I recall EBN-OZN!

What happened to Bang Tango?

What the heck was up with that? I was actually looking forward to seeing Joe Leste and whoever he had playing with him at the time.

Tracii Guns didn't fail to play his tail off. The band was pretty good and I liked Marty, but it sounded like he was really holding back. I recall seeing him on Rockstar INXS and I know he can sing, but was just holding down the fort Monday. I am glad they played Trees, though.

Faster Pussycat...wow...Taime Downe in a dress...wow...that was just odd...
