New brewpub to open in McCall this fall
Submitted by Patrick Orr on Thu, 08/07/2008 - 9:37am.
Here’s some good news for Valley County craft beer enthusiasts and thirsty recreationists from the Treasure Valley — a new brewpub will be open for business in McCall later this fall.
The Salmon River Brewery will open in a retrofitted home at 300 Colorado Street later this fall. Co-owners Matt and Jennifer Hurlbutt and Matt and Ellen Ganz are currenlty turning a home built in 1976 into a seven-barrel brewery and pub.
Matt Hurlbutt, who is doing much of the retrofitting work, said he is using as much salvaged lumber and other restored materials as he can during construction to reflect the owners’ dedication to environmental conservation.
The owners also say they are committed to using as many local products as possible.
I’ll try to track down the owners and find out about their brewing philosophy and what kind of beers Idaho imbibers can expect to be able to drink this fall. The limited information about the brewery on their Web site indicates there will be a sushi bar at the pub.
This also means residents of McCall will be able to get fresh beer from two different places, as the McCall Brewing Co. (807 N. 3rd St.) continues to turn out tasty craft brews and pub food. That’s not bad for a town with a permanent population of about 2,500 people.
It’s easy to work up a healthy thirst when recreating around McCall, so the more fresh beer, the better.
