A fourth Senate debate
Fresh from the e-mails:
BOISE – The Jim Risch for U.S. Senate Committee announced today that Lt. Governor Risch accepted an invitation to a debate in Boise on Oct. 7 sponsored by AARP Idaho. This marks the fourth debate that is set for the final four weeks of the US Senate campaign. The debate will broadcast on CBS throughout Idaho on Saturday, October 11.
"Through the final month of the campaign, Idahoans will have an average of one debate a week to weigh their choices for the US Senate. I look forward to a positive discussion of the issues," Risch stated.
Risch has previously agreed to an Oct. 21 debate sponsored by KTVB and other media partners; an Oct. 28 Meridian Chamber of Commerce debate; and a debate in Lewiston.

Senior vote apparently most important to Risch--of course...
Too many whippersnappers watch Lawrence Welk and Are You Being Served. Waiting For God and such.
And why NOT? It's TV Worth Watching!
Ah, but WE'RE not Waiting For God and have time to sharpen our claws.

Good for Risch
Another debate is a good thing, even if the forum is not perfect.
Funny how some bloggers who know nothing about politics declared this issue over - the argument over, while others continued to work the inside and reached a compromise for a fourth debate and acceptable format.
Good job all.
It IS over---Risch got the debate he wanted, not...
Something forced on him at a disadvantage. DUH?
Was never "over"
Risch did not want another debate. Strategy is clear - the front runner has much to lose by debating, and four are four more than is strategic.
Assuming Risch would debate once for the people, and once for show, two debates are all he needed. The third one was a bit of a surprise but this one was negotiated. I'm pretty sure you were not in the room.
Nor you...
being a member of the IPC I'm sure you were all treated like Nazis, as usual.
Whatever. Be your own personal Jesus, Depeche Mode so aptly said.
Taking bets
My IPC membership is secondary to my contract work with campaigns.
I don't bet.
McDonald's Dollar Menu is in jeopardy as it is.
notice how...
....Risch is leaking out the debate-acceptances one at a time? It couldn't be - gasp - deliberate, could it?
Any debate which is not live is not a debate.
Did notice
Good point bfg, it appears very measured and deliberate. Of course Risch likes to control and have things his way - which if you like him that is a good thing.
I sort of agree on the debate, it should be in front of the people. But if the moderator and questioners are known and available to the public even via a blog, prior to the event then some good still comes from it.
Very controlled
very deliberate. And of course it must be a response to his own internal polling showing a closer race than he'd like. He won't accept the IPTV/League of Women Voters debate because he can't control the format. The League of Women Voters established that format as the most fair to all participants in a democratic election. What's he got against democracy?
