Updated: Its stock struggling, Micron will face analysts Tuesday
Micron’s stock woes will form the backdrop Tuesday when the company holds a conference for stock analysts. Micron stock was trading at $4.65 Friday morning, having fallen as low as $4.42 in trading Tuesday – a day after reaching a 15-year low of $4.55 on Monday. One analyst this week cut her target price to $4.25 from $8.50.
Micron's woes are shared with chip producers worldwide. For more on those problems, check out this Dow Jones News Service story filed today on the Wall Street Journal Web site.
Chairman and CEO Steve Appleton and other executives will discuss Micron’s strategy and their views about the difficult market conditions for dynamic random-access memory and NAND flash memory – the two kinds of computer chips that make up most of Micron’s sales. Micron has suffered six consecutive quarters of losses.
Meanwhile, Micron is doing some executive shuffling and and expanding its sales organization. Mike Sadler, the vice president of sales, is taking a new leadership job at MeiYa Technology Corp., the new DRAM joint venture between Micron and Nanya Technology Corp. in Taiwan. Replacing Sadler is Mark Adams, formerly vice president of digital media. Paul Mullen becomes vice president of international OEM (original equipment manufacturer) sales, and Mike Bokan becomes vice president of Americas OEM sales.
