Curtis Stigers on the Hi-Tops reunion

Old-school Hi-Tops fans are probably wondering why original member Curtis Stigers won't be participating in the Aug. 9 reunion concert at the Visual Arts Collective in Garden City. E-mailing from Europe — where he's been singing for Quincy Jones to celebrate Jones' 75th birthday and performing John Lennon tunes with the Liverpool Philharmonic — Stigers says he would love to be involved. But he already had European dates scheduled: "I'm deeply disappointed! When I found out Craig Sofaly was coming home from France for a visit I was thrilled. I haven't seen him in decades. Then I found out the date and my heart sunk. The Hi-Tops days were such an important part of my education as a young musician, and so much FUN. ... I've got a big TV show in Dublin on August 8 and then The Silda Jazz Festival in Haugesund, Norway on August 9. It could not have been worse timing. Hopefully, I'll be in town for the next reunion."

I'm gonna miss ya

Curtis and I have tried to meet up so many times but fate has always kept us away. I am so looking forward to coming back to Boise to see old friends and meet some new ones. IT HAS BEEN SUCH A LONG TIME. This is like a family reunion!
