John Cusack's huge new war flick ... that you'll never see
John Cusack has made another war movie that very few people will watch, but he's just happy to get his message across.
The extremely limited release political satire "War, Inc.," which stars Cusack, his sister, Joan, Hillary Duff, Ben Kingsley and Marisa Tomei was penned by "Bulworth" writer Jeremy Pikser and cult author Mark Leyner.
It came out in L.A. and New York on May 23, and will open in just eight other cities before heading to DVD on July 1. Sounds like a flop, right? Not exactly.
The L.A. Times reports that "limited theatrical showings in select cities, coupled with a fast DVD release, have become the accepted formula for distributing cause-related movies and documentaries."
It's an interesting strategy, especially for a movie with some serious star power. But then again, who would expect anything less than unconventional moves from the actor whose career has gone from romantic comedies ("Must Love Dogs" - yikes!) to cult classics ("Better Off Dead") to adventure flicks ("Con Air"). Cusack also starred in 2007's "Grace is Gone."
Here's the trailer for "War, Inc." It looks pretty good.
