Best movie cars ever
Submitted by David Parker on Fri, 05/16/2008 - 9:17am.
In honor of "Speed Racer," movie Web site Rotten Tomatoes listed 50 of the most famous movie cars.
No. 1? Doc Brown's 1981 De Lorean DMC-12 from "Back to the Future" (parts I, II and III).
It's good to see cars that vary from Ecto-1 - the 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor from "Ghostbusters" (I and II) - to Bandit's 1977 Pontiac Trans Am from "Smokey and the Bandit" (I and II) to Mr. Frye's 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder SWB from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."
The classic that deserves better list placement: "Bullit's" 1968 Ford Mustang GT390 Fastback. 25? C'mon. That's top 10 - if not top five.
Car that makes me the most nostalgic: The Family Truckster from "National Lampoon's Vacation." Although ours didn't have the faux wood panelling and metallic pea paint of this Ford LTD Country Squire, I spent many a car trip in the back of one of these wagons.
Best deep cut: Pepe, the Little Mule. This customized 1982 Ford Bronco XLT from "Romancing the Stone" was both bulletproof and fireproof.
Worst actual car (but good to see on the list anyway): Garth's Mirth Mobile, the 1976 AMC Pacer with a custom flame job from "Wayne's World."

Mopar Rules for the uninitiated...
The Bullitt 'Stang is nice but the Charger had to be restrained and the entire chase scene carefully timed as the Dodge's driver kept getting away from McQueen.
The cute little Plymouth Valiant that was relentlessly chased by a psycho trucker in Steven Spielberg's first? movie edges out the Fury in The Blues Brothers that sprayed a barrel of oil after 'throwing a rod' and managed to do 100 mph consistently.
Christine is next and I think the Forward Look never looked SO B-B-B-B-BAAAAD...
The General Lee gets honorable mention because it appeared in a clunker movie and Cooter, Roscoe and Boss Hogg plus Uncle Jesse in the TV show were better than the movie and the car was always great. Daisy is a no DUH.
Station wagon dept: Any 60's or early 70's Chrysler made wagon is always cool, especially with the rear wing.
How about Bond Cars?
You gotta love all the James Bond cars - the submarine Lotus that is "Burglar Protected" and comes with surface-to-air missiles. The BMW sedan that is bullet and hammer proof, and remote controlled. The Aston Martin DB5 with knock off hub tire cutters, moving map display and license plate rotisserie. Or the Aston Martin "Vanish" with the auto tracking double machine guns.
Bang Bang, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang...
our fine four-fendered friend...
Ian Fleming wrote a children's book and it had a far-out flivver with the "GEN II" license plates!
