Food and fashion
Submitted by Nonprofit blogger on Thu, 04/10/2008 - 3:57pm.
Food and fashion, two of our favorite things, are the themes for the next week. First there’s the annual Culinary Walk-About for Meals on Wheels tonight where the lucky attendees get to sample food items from 20 of the area’s top chefs. Yum!
Then there are two chances to get your fashion fix over the weekend. The Alley Repertory Theater (ART) is holding a fundraiser on Friday night at the newly opened
Visual Arts Collective (VAC) in Garden City. I just went to a concert at VAC last night and can tell that it is going to be one of the hippest places in town for events. For $20, you can see avant garde clothing by designer Tod Alan in an ultra-cool setting, all to benefit an innovative new community theater company.
Once the fashion bug gets us, there’s no stopping so it’s on to Fashion IMPACT! on Saturday night. This annual fundraiser is being held at the DoubleTree Hotel Riverside to benefit the Junior League of Boise, an organization whose good works are in place all over the city. Tickets are $50 in advance or $60 at the door.
Back to food! Fitting into fun fashions notwithstanding, how could anyone resist a wine dinner by Boise Celebrity Chefs to benefit Life’s Kitchen on Thursday, April 17? This fun evening will include a five course meal prepared by five chefs; tickets are $75.
Finally, with the food and fashion frenzy behind us, we plan to settle down with a good book from the Friends of the Garden City Library Book Sale from April 18-April 20.

One's sold out before you write it up and one's in Garden Cty...
which as a bicyclist and realist I won't worry about personally...do what you like and the others still sound interesting but I'm boycotting Chinden Boulevard until respect for all transportation modes is realized by the GC cliche. I'm not hoping for the end of GC like China and the Olympics though and hope it goes well without embargoers.
