When you see people Nordic skiing on the Boise Greenbelt, you know it must be a good snow year.
I remember when Boise used to get a good foot of snow on the ground for a few weeks in the winter. Haven't seen that in a while.
We actually skied out our back door and up into the Boise Foothills Sunday. Of course, we took our rock skis, but it was actually pretty good.
When I was surfing the Weir on the Boise River Sunday in my canoe, I saw people skiing on the south side of the river.
OK, the Weir's wave was between a foot and 18 inches, but there was a little sweet spot. At 244 cfs, there isn't much of a wave but it's enough to get a work out and keep the upper body in shape for the upcoming whitewater season.
Canoeing and cross-country skiing without even leaving town, that's what makes Boise and the Treasure Valley great.
