Take your retriever for a swim

It's funny.
We think nothing of standing in the marsh in 27-degree weather watching our retriever swim in 34-degree water for a duck or goose during the waterfowl season.
Suddenly, the hunting season is over, and we think it's too cold to take the dog for a swim in the river. What's the difference?
I think retrievers are like plants. They've got to be watered regularly even in winter.
Grab the retrieving dummy and take your dog for a swim in the river.
