Hubbard Reservoir between Boise and Kuna is an excellent place for a conservation area and park.
The reservoir attracts all kinds of wildlife and is enjoyed by bird watchers, hikers, horseback riders and others.
It's a natural area in a sea of homes and other development. It is an area just as important as Boise's Greenbelt and the Deer Flat National Wildlife Refugs at Lake Lowell in a valley that is developing too fast.
It is good to see that folks are organizing the Friends of Hubbard Reservoir to protect the property and enhance the area.
In fact, a meeting is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 24 at Kuna High School for the public to learn about the group's plans and hopes.
Steven Ricks of Boise wrote a letter to the editor in Wednesday's Idaho Statesman calling Hubbard Reservoir "an oasis of open space worthy of our very best preservation efforts."
Right on.
Hubbard Reservoir should be preserved
