What a letdown

I opened the paper this morning to find showtimes for "I'm Not There" — a movie that was scheduled to open this weekend — only to find ... it's not here.

The folks in the office at Regal Boise 21 (formerly Edwards 21) at the Boise Spectrum told me only that the movie "wasn't delivered" by the company that brings the films they screen. Oops!

Here's how it works: all local movie theaters send the Statesman a list of opening movies for the weekend on Wednesday. Our deadline for finishing Friday's Scene is Thursday at 2 p.m. We include reviews in Scene for all movies we are told are opening over the weekend (unless no review is available to us).

Either someone missed the window to let us know they weren't going to be showing "I'm Not There" this weekend or their movies were delivered after 2 p.m. on Thursday.

I'll give the theater the benefit of the doubt, but I'll also remember to be guardedly optimistic the next time a movie I want to see opens at only one Valley theater.

It could be...

a Golden Compass conspiracy?

It might also be a good chuckle from Edwards 21 for a theatre down for maintenance...I'd have to look that up.
