Emergency medical tip
A medical emergency can happen on the ski slopes, in a campground or out on the trail, and first responders need to know who to contact in that emergency.
Ace Boise whitewater canoeist J.T. More shared these tips he got from the Brundage Mountain Ski Patrol. We should all follow his advice.
More says that we all carry our cell phones with names and phone numbers in the contact list, but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends. If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call.
That's why emergency responders have started the ICE (In Case of Emergency) Campaign.
It's easy. Store several phone numbers of who to contact in an emergency in your phone. Label them ICE1, ICE2, or ICE3.
The idea was thought up by a paramedic, who found that when he went to the scene of an accident, there were always cell phones with victims, but emergency personnel didn't know who to call.
In an emergency situation, EMTs and hospital staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the
number you have stored as "ICE," said More.
"It really could save your life, or put a loved one't mind at rest," More said.
Super idea, J.T.
